Sergei Parajanov (სერგო ფარაჯანოვი.1924-1990) - one of the greatest masters of cinema and an extraordinary artist.

Films of Parajanov are regarded as one of the most important in cinematography and admired all over the world. 

Armenian by origin, Sergei Parajanov was born and raised in Tbilisi. He studied violin, voice and ballet, and then, in 1951, graduated from the world’s oldest film school, the Institute of Cinema (V.G.I.K).

Parajanov created his first masterpiece, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors in 1964 and it was the movie that brought him world fame. 

The Color of Pomegranates (1969), The Legend of Suram Fortress (1985), Ashik Kerib (1988) are some of his other acclaimed works.

In 1989 Parajanov began the shooting of The Confession, an autobiographical picture, but it remained unfinished due to his health issues.

Parajanov passed away in 1990 at the age of 66.
