#GeorgianHeroes - Kote Marjanishvili (1872-1933) was born in Kvareli (Kakheti Region). He was the founder of Georgian modern theater. Kote Marjanishvili was the first Georgian director to stage a street performance in Tbilisi. He worked as a film and opera director also. Drawing on his earlier work in cinema, Marjanishvili skillfully integrated cinematic elements into his stage productions. He became known as a polystylistic director—an approach that made him truly unique. Kote Marjanishvili was also an outstanding teacher who nurtured generations of Georgian theater professionals.
